Just a quick update before we receive a couple for dinner and premarital counseling tonight.
A few days before we returned to BJ, we were informed that BBC would need to move. The hotel in which we meet will begin renovations at the first of February so our last Sunday is Jan. 31. The hotel gave us about 4 weeks' notice to move, which is actually a lot of time by local standards. Therefore, as soon as we could after arriving, Mark, with others, began searching for a new place. One day last week he and some friends visited about 4 venues; Friday Mark and I re-visited two of those venues and then we walked up and down some streets stopping in at 5 other venues to see what they could offer. We have either called or stopped by many venues in the course of a couple of weeks. Over time several venues eliminated themselves as they couldn't provide the space or cost we need or weren't willing to host BBC. Yesterday, Mark, I and a friend visited the landlord and liaison at our most promising venue to discuss the possibility of us renting their business space on a long-term basis. We had a several-hour discussion about our needs, their requirements and concerns. Not only did we have a productive meeting, we came away feeling very positive about the possibility. If nothing else, we made some new friends.
We now have approx. two weeks in which to secure a new venue for BBC. We attempt to balance cost, suitability, environment, and potential for growth and outreach. As you think of BBC, please petition the Father for wisdom and success in this venture.
