Some Observations

Autumn Winds Apartments:
Lots of cars are parked here, but we meet few people.
Approx. 11 buildings with 8, 12, or 24 apartments each. Which are one-bedroom, two-bedroom, or three-bedroom?
Our complex must be new, on the outskirts of town, surrounded by dry, brown fields.
The closest thing is the hospital.
How many groceries do you buy at a time when you walk up to a 3rd floor apartment? What about a 9th floor or high-rise in China? I need to change my buying habits as at home I often bought for 2-3 weeks at a time.
Clarksville:
It’s light by 6:30am and dark by 6:30pm.
Clarksville is spread out;  it’s not much of a walking city.
Clarksville has lots of eating places, reminding me of Woodruff Rd & Pelham Rd.
The topography is rolling hills but flatter than Greenville, with lots of river bottoms.
There are few trees to block the wind.
Roads apparently follow the contours of the topography, a lot like Greenville.
Streets change names at major intersections, often several times. Again, a lot like Greenville.
Almost no barber shops around.  No Great Clips, no Sports Clips, no SuperCuts. We drove around town Wed. looking for a place for Mark to get his hair cut.  We finally ended up at the mall.
It’s cold here, temperatures hovering in the upper 30’s with wind.
People:
We see a number of mixed marriages.
Obviously we see a lot more military people than in Greenville.
Although strangers are friendly, almost no one initiates contact.
No too many people make eye contact as we walk around.
Lots of people sport tattoos.
Us:
Meals are simple and quick.  It doesn’t take much to feed two people.
After a while, a one-bedroom apt becomes close quarters.
One of us needs to get out at least once a day, either to the fitness room or to take a walk.
Share one computer?  Maybe for a short time.
I can clean the whole apartment in about 15 minutes.
Oh, and follow the first rule of traveling - don't drink the water, at least for a while.

  1. Well, what an interesting "twist" of providence has blown you onward. But providence is always full of twists..that's what makes life led by the Spirit so engaging. May the Lord always walk before you and you in His steps... we love you both so much, DD
